Pre-order 1comet
The flight tests on the first prototype of the 1comet have met all our expectations. We are therefore launching production of a batch of 15 gliders, of which 7 have already been reserved. Deliveries will start in late summer/autumn 2025. Initially, we will start with the production of the foot-launch version as described below. The cabin of the foot-launch version is interchangeable with the cabin of the electric version.
The price (foot-launched version) of € 69,000 ex works is guaranteed for the first batch of gliders, which means that the price guarantee is limited to the first 15 gliders. We expect the basic electric version to be about € 20,000 more expensive.
If you are interested in purchasing a 1comet, please contact info@1comet.com.
We are not asking for a deposit at this time. According to our current schedule, the production version of the foot-launch glider will be available for demonstration in March 2025. We will then be able to communicate the exact delivery date according to the chronological sequence of e-mails we receive expressing interest. If you definitively decide to buy a 1comet and confirm your interest in March, we’ll then draw up a contract and ask you for a non-refundable deposit of €2,000. The exact conditions will be defined at that time.
Description of the foot-launch version:
Price 1st production batch granted € 69`000.00 without tax, ex works
1comet is a 15 m wingspan flaperon glider with a laminar profile comparable to that of a modern racing class glider, adapted to the specific Reynolds numbers. The original aerodynamic layout comes from Dr. Martin Hepperle and Dipl. Ing. ETH Donat Bösch. Eric Raymond served as a consultant for lightweight design. AeroFEM GmbH, a spin-off of Pilatus aircraft, made a complete CFD and FEM Analysis. Test flights were carried out by Sören Pedersen, an experienced glider and class 1 test pilot.
Main Data:
– Wingspan15 m
– Surface area 11.3 m2
– Aspect ratio 20
– Weight: The glider is designed for a maximum take-off weight (MTOW) of 250 kg. We`ll prove that the glider is suitable for foot take-off and landing.
– VNE 180 km/h
– Tested Load factor +5.3 – 2.65 at 250 kg MTOW, +7 -3.5 at 200 kg TOW
– Calculated ultimate load (SF=1.5) +7.95 – 4 at 250 kg MTOW, +10.5 -5.25 at 200 kg TOW
– Transport: The wing, tailboom, vertical and horizontal tail can be stored in a box measuring approximately 5.6 x 0.8 x 0.8 m. The cabin can be stored in a box measuring approximately 3.0 x 0.8 x 1 m.
– Performance and aerodynamic layout see https://1comet.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/English-50y-SHV-Presentation.pdf
The glider is equipped with:
– Flaperons, positions: landing and narrow climb, climb, transition, fast speed
– Airbrakes deployable up to VNE
– Hook for aerotowing
– Hook for bungee launch
– Wing manufacturing: in-mold sandwich construction, wing surface carbon fabrics with PU-paint, all surfaces comparable to high-performance sailplanes, pultruded carbon spar
– Foot-launch cage with pilot-fairing, landing skid and wheel. Doors for legs. Cage with aluminum and chromoly tubes, fairing in Kevlar/Carbon. The cage is prepared to integrate an aircraft recovery system (“rocket parachute”).
Option e-drive fuselage instead of foot-launch fuselage, incl. retractable landing gear
Price estimated: 1 battery version € 20`000, 2 batteries version 25`000 €, without tax, ex works
– Geiger System max. 15 kW, 4000 rpm
– Battery capacity 3120 Wh or 6240 Wh
– Propeller foldable in front
