With the presentation of our newly developed cabin at AERO 2026 in Friedrichshafen, 1comet has made another important development step visible. The overall shape is based both on extensive CFD performance analyses as well as on ergonomic and safety criteria. The landing gear is retractable and now also suitable for grass runways. The new cabin reflects our ambition to view the flying experience, ergonomics, safety, and technical functionality not as separate elements, but as one fully integrated system.

One of the key advantages of the new cabin is the improved visibility. In flight, excellent visibility is not only a matter of comfort: it is an essential part of safety and the overall flying experience. In the foot-launch version, the pilot must be positioned below the wing, close to the centre of gravity. In the new electric cabin version, we were able to move the pilot half a meter forward. This new pilot position provides nearly 90-degree upward visibility, allowing excellent awareness of the airspace when thermalling. Terrain visibility, especially important when flying close to the ground in mountainous areas, is also outstanding. Nothing obstructs the view!

Another major advantage is the new battery integration in the rear section. Battery handling, including installation and removal, is very easy, while overall safety has been further enhanced. Any form of energy storage, whether liquid fuel or batteries, represents a potential source of fire, heat, or fumes. For this reason, the battery system is housed in a dedicated safety compartment positioned farther away from the pilot.

The cabin structure is entirely made from advanced composite materials. The sandwich shell combines carbon and carbon-Kevlar composites to provide high stiffness, excellent impact resistance, and reduced sharp-edge fragmentation. Additional lateral carbon stringers further increase structural integrity and crash safety.

The new cabin therefore demonstrates what 1comet stands for: not isolated ideas, but consistently refined solutions. Every detail is designed to contribute to a better overall experience: visually, functionally, and technically. Innovation is not only found in major concepts, but often in carefully considered improvements that elevate usability, operation, safety, and the flying experience to a higher level.

For us, this cabin is therefore far more than a new component. It is an expression of a development philosophy that combines precision, elegance and practical usability. And it is another step towards positioning 1comet as a new and distinctive answer to modern ultralight flying.
